About Us
Parrsboro Schools are situated on King and School Streets, adjacent to each other and overlooking the Main Street of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Our town and harbour are open to the Minas Basin through which runs the cold, fast and unforgiving water of the Bay of Fundy. Parrsboro's unique geographical location and the world's highest tides bring tourists and geological enthusiasts by the thousands each year.
Our schools, Primary to Six and Seven to Twelve respectively, share almost evenly a student population of 500 and a professional staff of 30, with support staff of three caretakers, two secretaries and nine teacher assistants. The school libraries are run by a full-time librarian, and the elementary school also is fortunate to have a dedicated volunteer staff. We share some staff between our schools.
Students attend our schools from about a twenty-five kilometer radius, including Five Islands, Southampton and Wards Brook. Approximately sixty-five percent of our students are bussed to school, affecting our school day and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Despite the number of bus students we offer a wide range of activities at both elementary and high school levels.
